Trademarks Policy

Oban, Oban Pro, and the Oban logo are trademarks of Soren, LLC, which is responsible for administering their use and permission. You may not use these trademarks in a commercial setting to imply that your product or service is endorsed or associated with Oban without permission. You may use these marks to refer to Oban in a way where it's clear that you're simply referring to the project, not claiming endorsement or association.

Our trademarks must be used to refer to the Oban background job processor.

Examples That Do Not Need Permission

All examples listed next must strictly adhere to the terms outlined previously:

  • Including the Oban logo on product pages to say we support Oban (like for hosting).
  • Use of the trademarks Oban or Oban Pro in book titles.
  • Usage of the Oban logo in non-commercial community meetups, in presentations, and in courses.

Examples That Do Need Permission

Here is a non-exhaustive list of non permitted uses of the marks:

  • Selling merchandise (stickers, t-shirts, mugs, etc).
  • Use of the Oban logo on a book cover.
  • Usage of the Oban logo as the mark of third party projects, even in combination with other marks.

Examples That Will Not Get Permission

Here are some examples that may be granted permission upon request:

  • Naming any company or product after Oban, such as The Oban Consultants, The Oban Engine, etc.
